Förlagets beskrivning
AD/HD has an extensive conceptual history and is characterized by symptoms of inattention and hyperactivity-impulsivity. Children with AD/HD often show a cluster of sensory behaviors and researchers in the field of occupational therapy have developed theoretical models to clarify specific patterns among individuals with AD/HD. Although sensory processing problems have not explicitly been included in the DSM-IV criteria for children with AD/HD, recent research indicates that characteristics of sensory processing may distinguish children with disabilities from children without disabilities, and also to discriminate groups of children with disabilities from each other. Thus, the dissertation aims to explore the utility of the application of sensory processing concepts to a dimensional approach to classification of AD/HD in children in the fifth edition of the DSM
